This 442 page book provides 450 cameos of young boys aged between 14 and

17 who gave their lives during the First World War.It is a companion

to Volume 2 that covers those commemorated on the Menin Gate only.

The boy soldiers are buried in all parts of Belgium in nearly 100

cemeteries. (Each cemetery plan is printed where available.) As with

Volume 2 I have included some stories of 18 year old officers to

illustrate how young so many of the officers were who came straight from

school to command troops on the Western Front.

lengthy cameos on Jack Cornwell, the youngest Victoria Cross winner,

Lieutenant Geoffrey Ottley who was only 18 when he was awarded the

Distinguished Service Order and the story of Boys Bradford, VC, MC, who

was the youngest British General at 25. All three gave their lives

during the First World War.

The book is profusely illustrated with colour maps, contemporary

photographs and illustrations.
