Denis Barnett volunteered and enlisted in the Artists Rifles. He left for France on Monday 26th October 1914 and served with them until he was commissioned on Saturday 9th January 1915 to the Leinsters. Denis served in northern France and on the Ypres Salient where he was mortally wounded and taken to Poperinghe where he died on Monday 16th August 1915. The original book was produced by his family shortly after his death. In Part II there are cameos on over twenty personalities and events mentioned in his letters. 220 pages.
